Filing Gaps to Fill Monotones
Spring 22
“Filling Gaps to Fill Monotones” is a video piece exploring identity. It focuses on a small niche of people who identify as non-human conforming. The video depicts the contrast between two people; one a doll (a dark character who represents a non gendered alter ego) and the other a human. The doll who is completely stiff and the human who is completely emotional.
The two are meant to contrast and represent the difficulties of coming to terms with identity and feeling lost.
The video takes inspiration from different film makers like David Lynch, Ryan Murphy, and holds aesthetics from old VHS clips, horror movies and the Bauhaus Ballet films. The music I curated for the film is an audio representation of these dark feelings and holds a lot of importance to me.
